The boutique SilverStone Gallery by the lake is an initiative of the PineRidge Arts Council and Peterkin Family
and features original art by Durham's established and emerging artists, the only gallery in Pickering to do so
The PineRidge Arts Council is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to enhance the quality of life
within the community by developing widespread appreciation, support and involvement in the arts since 1989.
SilverStone Gallery's mission is to enhance the status and reputation of the SilverStone Gallery through promotion
and marketing of the gallery and member artists, and contribute to the fabric of the arts in the community through co-operation,
encouragement and professionalism. Artists exhibiting artwork in the gallery are PineRidge Arts Council members.
Sunday on the Porch
The creation of a work of art is a process that inspires and draws viewers in.
This is the experience the SilverStone Gallery, Pickering offers to visitors of the Nautical Village area on Sunday afternoons.
The popular Sunday on the Porch Series, will start its third year in May 2013 showcasing Durham artists
as they paint, sculpt, play music
and sing between 2 and 4 pm on the cozy porch setting by the lake.
In 2011 the gallery was nominated for an Art of Transition Award for its showcasing of Durham artists and unique sharing of space
with Silverstone Paddle and Esthetics by Meredith. We jokingly ask if people would like a paddle and pedicure with their painting.
